The Best Tacos in Charlotte for 2022

9. White Duck Tacos

This cool hidden gem located right beside Plaza Midwood serves up tacos with a twist. They have a massive menu (online does not show all the current tacos) and if you are not sure what to order the employees with be able to point you in the right direction.

The Menu is pretty interesting with a variety of unique flavors like Philly Cheesesteak, General Tso, Korean bulgogi, Buffalo chicken and a ton more, so definitely a something for everyone type of place.

Favorite: Crispy Chicken BLT

3 amigos tacos

8. Three Amigos

Three amigos is one of my favorite restaurants in Charlotte, and it is located in Plaza Midwood off of Central blvd. It is your classic Mexican restaurant that does not have overpriced items and serves you chips and salsa so you can fill up before your food arrives. The tacos are delicious, along with the margaritas, and if you are basic the ACP always hits the spot. Somehow they are still under the radar so try and go before the word spreads.

Favorite: Tacos de carne asada : Marinated steak diced + served on corn tortillas with onion, cilantro, and fresh squeezed lime.

Best Charlotte tacos

7. Pacos Tacos and Tequila

From the wood-fired grilled fajitas to the cheese enchiladas with chili con carne, Paco's menu showcases the freshest quality ingredients. Each dish was crafted under the expert guidance of James Beard award-winning Tex-Mex culinary expert and cookbook author, Rob Walsh. Central to the flavor-packed dining experience is the bar, with over 100 tequila varieties, several outstanding wines and a selection of beers from Texas, Mexico and North Carolina.

Favorite: Paco’s Taco – 10-hour slow roasted chili rubbed beef brisket with caramelized onions, queso fresco and chipotle barbecue sauce. Available with or without cabbage. Slightly spicy ($12 for two tacos + rice and beans).

Best tacos Sabor

6. Sabor Latin Street Grill

Sabor Latin Street Grill has multiple locations throughout Charlotte and delivers on tacos, burritos and nachos. Although the aesthetic looks like a modern restaurant, what they serve is authentic, especially the tacos. Ordering is easy and the food comes quick, if you are not in the mood for their tacos, order the nachos and you will not be disappointed.

Favorite: Curtido Fish Taco – seared tilapia, curtido slaw, tomato and cilantro on a corn tortilla with a lime wedge

5. Velvet Taco

Velvet taco is the newest taco spot on this list. It is located in Optimist Hall along Park Road shopping center and delivers big tacos with bold flavor. We think that these tacos are underrated to the Charlotte public because they are newer to the area and are not anything like your traditional Mexican restaurant. They are not the cheapest tacos, but 2 tacos and some chips and queso will fill (mostly) anyone up! Combining the tastiness of these tacos along with the fun of being at optimist hall, they are a top choice of mine when deciding on what tacos to eat.

Favorite: Slow roasted angus brisket: Barbacoa style, red chili mayo, avocado relish, queso blano, micro cilantro, comte cheese, encrusted flour tortilla

Tacos El Nevado 3 tacos

4. Tacos El Nevado

If you are looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant this is your spot. Although they do not have Taco Tuesday specials, there tacos are always around the $2 price and do not fall short of flavor. This is probably the best tacos for the price in Charlotte.

Favorite: Asada Taco – grilled steak with cilantro and onions

Cabo best tacos

3. Cabo Fish Taco

Located in the heart of Noda, Cabo Fish Taco is a Charlotte Staple that serves up good southern California Mexican food. When my family or friends come in town this is one of my go too spots. I love the Noda area; the aesthetic of the restaurant is uplifting and makes you feel like you are in a local surfing town, and the food is delicious!

Favorite: Honey soy glazed salmon tacos: grilled salmon tossed in a honey soy glaze, stuffed with mixed greens, guacamole, tomato, mixed cheese and finished with a honey wasabi sauce.

Bakersfield Tacos

2. Bakersfield

Located in the heart of Dilworth, Bakersfield Tacos has some of the best tacos in Charlotte. There are a few locations across the country, Detroit, Nashville, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati and there is good reason for it. These tocos don’t just look amazing, and although they may be smaller in size compared to the rest on the list, they never fail to have us walking away satisfied.

Favorite: Fish Taco – Crispy Mahi, Tabasco lime sauce, citrus claw, cilantro

Rurus best tacos

1. RuRu's Tacos

RuRus Tacos and Tequila has the best craft tacos in Charlotte hands down. If you are looking for something that is not your traditional carne asada tacos, but rather burst with flavor and mix in all different types of ingredients from all different cultures, then head on down to Eastover (south charlotte) and try these tacos on their massive patio.

Favorite: Stage Five Clinger Taco: Crispy chicken, lettuce, spicy corn relish, pickled jalapeños, spicy aioli
